Filofax – Project Kel Week 2 Complete

Good evening all!

Project Kel week 2 is over and done with. As it was my first week in my new job, I thought it was only fitting to devote week 2 to my “career”. I had no choice: work certainly took over my week and I’ve learned SOOOOO much! I’m scared that I’ll walk into work tomorrow and forget what I’ve learned already! I’m also so conscious that I may accidentally drive to my old work if I switch to autopilot in the morning!

So the last week has been very tiring and draining for me even though it looks like I didn’t do much else.

I “treated” myself as I am going through my healing process: Friday night I allowed myself to accept a date. It was a lovely evening, but it also sort of made me confirm to myself I have a way to go before I am really ready, you know?

However, Saturday night (last night) I really allowed myself to let my hair down, mingled with some new people and bumped into some old work colleagues from about 12 years ago. Partied hard for a friends birthday and consumed far too much alcohol!

Between partying and working, I did manage to fit in a bit of exercise. I’m trying Tracy Shaw’s Salsacise (an old DVD I purchased about 10 years ago) and I actually really enjoy it for some reason.

I’ve been working with Daisy the Deco for just under a week and I’m loving it. My new co-worker noticed it immediately as I pulled it out on the 2nd day of work. “Look at you with your filofax!” She smiled before proceeding to tell me she was secretly almost as organised as I am, and just as “decorative”. By which, she means she highlights everything. EVERYTHING!

Now, I have a little treat for all you Planner Investigators.  You may or may not be aware that I have been pretty much obsessed with the Sex and the City TV Series – which I had not realised was so addictive until August this year.  I have actually watched half a series in one sitting once… whoops!  I’m now finally on series 6 (what am I going to do when it’s finished??!) and today I spotted our favourite PR lady Samantha Jones whip out an organiser (I’d seen another planner of hers in an earlier series but I wasn’t in any mood that day to take some screenshots haha).  I’m not sure what planner make and model it is, but here are some screenshots anyway… enjoy!

That’s a Post-It Overload!

Anyhow, best be off to get my head down ready for my working week!

Stay organised, be creative and enjoy yourselves!  Until next time…

Filofax: Daisy is Here!

Good morning!

This morning I woke at 5.45am. Usually I wake at 7am. Today was the day that I was going to pick up my new PA, Daisy.

You may or may not know that I have been lusting after 2 certain Filofaxes for AGES! Because of my unhappiness lately etc, I decided as part of my little Project Kel I would treat myself to a new Filofax. One that was ludicrously expensive in my eyes. One that I had been really sighing over for the last few months.

I recently got it into my head that certain Filofaxes make me lucky and happy, and certain Filofaxes make me feel sad and unlucky. Certain remind me of good times, and certain remind me of unhappy times. Does this make any sense? Does anyone else feel this?

For example, my Orange Osterley (Ozzie!) is so lucky and happy for me. I’ve had some amazing times with him. But there are other Filofaxes that have seen me at my worst.

And so, I thought, why not start my new Project off with a lovely new positive Filo?

I just happened to browse the Philofaxy Adspot page when I saw the photo: standing out from the rest of the pack. I knew I had to have her! So I mailed her owner, Ena at Filomanie and was so upset to hear someone else was interested. The next day however, much to my surprise, Ena got in touch to say her original buyer had backed out and I could have her if I was still interested! Interested I was! I paid for her that evening and she was posted out the following day.

I tracked her religiously from the moment I got the tracking number, so excited!

At 7am, I was lurking outside my local post office waiting for it to open. Don’t you think it’s time England had an EVENING SERVICE? huh?! I could have picked her up last night and fawned over her a lot longer!

Anyhow…

And here we go…

Ta-Da! Daisy the Deco!

I got the inspiration from the Great Gatsby, if you can’t guess already ;).

She came with lots and lots of inserts, flyleaf, 2013 diary, addresses, to do, expenses, notepaper, dividers, today marker, business card holders, world map etc… But I wanted to move in (and didn’t have much time to do it before work so here are the quick photos 🙂 )

And there we have it! Daisy is here and I’m so ecstatic!

What are your thoughts on the deco? Are there any other deco owners out there still? Or are they now extinct?!

Off to do my full working day now!

Catch you later

Filofax: Project Kel Week 2 is Go!

Hi everyone!

Last week it was my last week at my old job as I began a new one today. Last week was also the beginning of “Project Kel”. Here is what’s happened so far:

Working on my external self last week-

(1) had a luxury facial
(2) began a course of microdermabrasion
(3) began taking Biotin
(4) started using FAST hair shampoo & conditioner
(5) tried the Tracy Anderson Workout Method
(6) had my teeth whitened

Looking at it like that, my week was pretty good! I was off to a flying start!

20131111-195327.jpg

As you can see, Monday was a sad day for me so it was really important that I was kept busy for the rest of the week. I won’t lie, it’s been really hard and I’m still feeling very empty and lost. To make up for it I think I’ve blown a good proportion of my savings on shopping and making me feel at least 10% human!

This week it’s all about work as I begin my new job. I still have that slight limbo feeling, probably because its going to take some time to adjust and settle in.

So there we have it… Oh, and I have something yummy coming my way tomorrow that cheered me up no end last week: and boy did I need it!

I shall reveal more tomorrow 🙂

Keep plugging on Peeps…

Why Use A Filofax?

Hi Everyone

Sometimes I stop thinking about what I want to change in my Filofax, and I simply revel in the knowledge that there is nothing I need more than to use it in the way it is intended – as a planner and an organiser.

Whenever I take my Filofax out I am sometimes met with looks of surprise or a snigger.  These people, my friends, are slaves to the modern digital society – can’t think outside of the box, and more often than not, forget what it is their day is meant to achieve.

What I like about a Filofax is that it is not a boring digital app that everyone has the same of.  Sure, it may come to you with a set of dividers and inserts to start you off, but what you do with them is completely up to you.  With a Filofax, you don’t just get the set picture events for the dentist or vets or bills due out etc.  You get to purchase stickers, or draw, or write, or make your own way of labelling these events.  YOUR way.  It’s individual.  Nobody else will have one like you.  It’s all customised to your needs.

Another thing I like about Filofax is that in digital-world, apps are usually hidden behind other apps and a lock screen in your bag – they generally get forgotten about and only beep when they need you to already be somewhere (which, you’ll have needed to remember beforehand unless you were to create an event which says an hour or so in advance “Make sure to make your way to the dentist”.  With the Filofax, it can be open on your desk, coffee table, night stand, on the train, anywhere… and just by looking at the layout of your day you’ll know when things are happening.  In fact, you can take a look at the months, or the year, and see what you have planned out.  It does not get forgotten about if you take it everywhere with you and use it.

Yet another thing I like about Filofax, the inserts are so customisable.  If you don’t think the expense section is required in your Filofax, no problem!  Just whip them out!  If you need to create a custom insert to meet your needs, no problem!  There are downloadable printables, or a computer just at the end of your fingertips to just have a go with!  Not one part of your Filofax needs to go redundant at any time.  You can use it to set up YOUR life, not bound by anyone else’s idea of a “conventional” life.  You can jazz them up or keep them businesslike, whatever you do, keep it to your ever changing taste and requirements 🙂

Guess what?  Another thing I like about Filofax is that moving into another one is so simple – open rings, remove inserts from rings, place in new Filofax’s open rings, close rings.  And you’re done!  Don’t get me started in attempting to migrate all that stuff over on a phone…  I can’t even think where my USB lead is, and I seriously only found out how to work the Bluetooth on my MacBook yesterday haha!

The final thing I want to share with you about what I love about my Filofax?  It’s the personal relationship you build with your paper life.  I guard my Filofax as heavily as I guard my MacBook and my iPhone.  Not because it’s got “naughty” stuff in there (which it hasn’t), but there are very raw and personal thoughts that I’ve taken the time to write/type down; very private thoughts that I sometimes refer to when I am feeling a little… well, delicate and I need a little comfort.  My goals I feel are extremely personal to me – some are shallow as they come, some are extremely deep and thoughtful.  I’m a really private person; I generally dislike people knowing what thoughts go around in my head in fear of being judged.  Well; my Filofax takes all of those thoughts and doesn’t judge.

My Filofax is my very own Personal Assistant.  I’ve spoken to my new pal Kendall over at http://www.justagirlatl.blogspot.com about this (she is new to the Filofaxing world, she has her very own FF Saffiano PA named Dulce Berry, it’s so cute!) and I believe that if you can make friends with your PA, your PA will look after you without any employment drama or pay rise demands (unless, of course, you want to up the stakes with a Temperley or something).  Your PA can be whoever you want them to be – a Brown Cuban named Miguel who has a Mexican Moustache and looks like he’s dropped out of the 70’s.  A Scarlett Red Metropol called Marilyn that sashays around with 50’s bombshell starlet potential.  Your PA can have a name, can have a theme, can have whatever you want them to have.

That being said, I’m currently eagerly awaiting my very own new PA… and she shall be named Daisy.  I should be receiving her very soon!  I will tell you more about her shortly 🙂

Stay tuned folks!

Filofax Changes – Selling A Couple Of My Filo’s!

Hi Everyone!

I’ve sold my Malden!  There, it’s out there.  My lovely Grey is departing for the fairer shores of the USA tomorrow morning to his new home.

I’m on this whole self improvement thing and for me, it’s all about cleansing my surroundings.  I’ve sold lots of things, thrown out lots of things, and now it’s time to whittle down my Filofax Collection.  So, in addition to my Malden’s departure, I am also selling the linked Filofaxes:

My Slimline Finsbury in Black – never used perfect rings, 2013 week on one page diary and telephone contact tabs.  Comes in slide in box.  Perfect for whipping out in business meetings!

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/161144249188

My Personal Breast Cancer Awareness Hot Pink Filofax – only used to carry contact business cards around with me whilst I was in my reps role.  No inserts or box.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/161144253189

And there we have it!  Feel free to take a look at the listing and place a bid 🙂

Another thing regarding Filofax, I am currently on the hunt for the PERFECT 2014 diary inserts for me.  I’m currently having some printables designed for me by Sharn of the fantastic FilofaxPrintables shop on Etsy.  Her designs are so gorgeous, I just HAD to contact her and ask her to use her “Perrrfect World” design and customise it to suit my needs.  I’m so excited to see it – and when I do, I’ll have to show it off to you 🙂

In the meantime, here is the link to Sharn’s Etsy Shop for you to drool over her beautiful designs.  Don’t forget, she is available to customise the designs to your requirements!

In other news, I had my first ever microdermabrasion session today and I love the results already!  I fully recommend pampering and treating yourself, especially when you feel low or in limbo etc.  Get yourself a sense of purpose, a catalyst, a muse, a direction, a REASON… and go for it.  Indulge, splurge, live a little, enjoy life, have a goal and work towards it using small tasks of loveliness to urge you on and make you feel amazing.

Because as L’Oreal so decadently put it – You’re Worth It.

Much Love – stay creative!

Filofax Keeping Me Grounded – Project Kel Is GO!

Hi Everyone!

The last few weeks I’ve been on a bit of a downer, and this little depressive dip was just enough to actually keep me in pyjama’s and bedridden almost for the last week. I’ve done nothing. No cleaning (shocker!) no organising (shocker!) no smiling. I wanted the would to fade away and let me curl up in a ball. I ate takeaway after takeaway, ordered in my shopping consisting of fizzy drinks, alcohol, biscuits, crisps, chocolate… you name it, everything I shouldn’t do is on there.

As a result, you can imagine I feel even worse!

Anyway, this realisation came to me on Saturday night while talking with my Australian Skypefriend Zoe about Luke leaving for Australia (which is happening today, sigh) and she crazily suggested I ought to visit her sometime soon. I’ll admit, I’m tempted!

While I was thinking about being tempted, I thought to myself; If I was going to visit Zoe I’d need a beach perfect bod!

Looking down at my junk food ridden body that I was letting go of slightly, I thought “it’s time to whup myself into shape again and develop some good habits ready to show Luke what he’s been missing!”

Course, it’s not all for Luke, I mean, I’m using that as some sort of purpose, you know? I have Christmas around the corner and I need to get into that perfect little black dress again, and then in the summer I have my parents 25th wedding anniversary party to attend where I am to wear an extremely tight Alice’s Boutique dress, so it’s important that I look my best!

I looked into getting back to Bellydancing, but it’s not widely recognised over here. I looked into going back to my old gym, but it’s all about spinning and weights there. I knew I wanted to do something feminine, rhythmic, dance-orientated, flowing etc.

Then I looked at the fitness regime of a slender inspiration of mine, don’t judge me on this – Cheryl Cole. I remember reading an article regarding her dramatic weight loss once, stating she was over 9 stone (which I personally consider to be a healthy weight!) in the early days of Girls Aloud. She didn’t feel happy wherefore she switched to a portion of Chicken and Rice for one of her meals every day. The girls had a professional trainer come in to sort them out etc… and now according to this article: http://www.closeronline.co.uk/2013/08/cheryl-cole-reveals-her-exercise-and-diet-tips she uses the Tracy Anderson Method DVD’s when she is not training on her own dance moves or attending Tracy Anderson Classes.

So last night I downloaded and had a go at the Dance Cardio DVD. It’s going to take me some time to get the Combinations down (I’m still learning Combination 1!) but that’s almost a workout in itself!

I woke up this morning and I ached. I’m still aching now. But I feel as though I’m starting something new, you know? Today marks the first day of Project Kel. Where I will be working on myself (not just working out) to make myself better in mind, body and soul.

And how will I be using my Filofax to do this? Well – to schedule in the ME TIME 🙂 whether it’s time for me to work out or organise appointments to have my teeth whitened or to meditate. It will be used to motivate me when I’m slipping, ready for me to pencil in a new appointment after remembering my goals and the reasons I’m doing this.

Today, I’ve booked my Teeth Whitening Session for Saturday. Which is perfect as I am beginning my new job on the Monday.

And now I feel motivated, what else can I book…!!

How are you using your Filofax to motivate you?

Much Love
