Filofax: I WANT!

Hello People of the World Wide Web!

Today I’ll cut straight to the chase… I want.  I’m having one of those days where I am scouring the internet and my brain coming across things that I “want”.

The last week or so I’ve been very Pink.  As I write, Legally Blonde 2 (with a whole lotta pink!) is on my TV.  I have my pink personal Finsbury filofax sitting next to me, I’m typing with pink nails and a pink dressing gown over my shoulders.  Yep.  Bitten by the pink bug!  In the last week, I’ve purchased: Rimmel Lasting Finish Pink Blush lipstick, L’Oreal Colour Riche Boudoir Rose pink nail varnish, Deichmann pink suede court shoes, Beau Avenue pink gingham night-playsuit, H&M pink cardigan, pinkish Matinee Ted Baker Purse…

So now what?  Well… for some reason I can’t get the idea of owning a Personal Classic Filofax in Pink or Personal Chameleon in Vintage Pink… or even a Personal Classic Botanics in that pinkish colour out of my head…

Anyone got one?

Ooh-La-La Parisian Filofax

Good Day People, or should I address all as “Bonjour!”
Today I scoured a couple of my local craft stores for items Parisian themed. Why is it when I have an idea I can never find anything that I have in my head? I came back home a tad disappointed to say the least. Then I began sifting through my current “Stash” of Filofax inserts/dividers, card stock and washi tape.
I’m not one to wait for items to become available to me. I am the type that is incredibly impatient. If there is something planted in my head, at the time it is incredibly important that I have it right NOW. Realising I sound a little like a spoiled brat right now, I promise I’m not that kind of girl – I just have these incredibly strong emotions when I have an idea – it needs to be released as soon as possible from me, and then I’m free to move on to the next idea. So, with that in mind, I realised I’d have to ‘make do and mend’ with what I already had. Which wasn’t much…
Anyhow, here is what I got up to:

Taking blank Filofax cotton cream divider tabs (pack of 4) that came with an old Filofax I purchased a while back, a Stamp, and a Distress Ink (you’ll notice I’ve gone back to basics on this little project – lots of old ideas came back out to play!)I continuously stamped the divider to make it look like a letter.

20140427-194210.jpg

Next, I worked on two Filofax Today Markers, using washi tape and lace adhesive.

20140427-194246.jpg20140427-194316.jpg20140427-194325.jpg20140427-194343.jpg

I then used the same lace and washi tape on the dividers, just to give it a more uniform look. The lace is on the tab, if you can’t see the photograph clearly 😉

20140427-194356.jpg

My muse, and a French Icon, Brigitte Bardot, is my front cover, a photograph taken from a book, stuck onto a parisian themed white and pink striped page from the same book and decorated with lace and a film strip washi tape.

You’ll see that I’ve placed the inserts in my Deco, rather than the Finsbury.  I thought the pink was a little toooooo much…

20140427-194413.jpg

All put together here’s how it’s looking!

20140427-202831.jpg20140427-202840.jpg

20140427-194512.jpg

Naturally I had to pair the look with a marabou topped pen!

I know it’s not “proper” Parisian Themed, but hey ho, I quite like the simple design.

Have you changed your Filofax up lately?

Filofax: Daisy is Here!

Good morning!

This morning I woke at 5.45am. Usually I wake at 7am. Today was the day that I was going to pick up my new PA, Daisy.

You may or may not know that I have been lusting after 2 certain Filofaxes for AGES! Because of my unhappiness lately etc, I decided as part of my little Project Kel I would treat myself to a new Filofax. One that was ludicrously expensive in my eyes. One that I had been really sighing over for the last few months.

I recently got it into my head that certain Filofaxes make me lucky and happy, and certain Filofaxes make me feel sad and unlucky. Certain remind me of good times, and certain remind me of unhappy times. Does this make any sense? Does anyone else feel this?

For example, my Orange Osterley (Ozzie!) is so lucky and happy for me. I’ve had some amazing times with him. But there are other Filofaxes that have seen me at my worst.

And so, I thought, why not start my new Project off with a lovely new positive Filo?

I just happened to browse the Philofaxy Adspot page when I saw the photo: standing out from the rest of the pack. I knew I had to have her! So I mailed her owner, Ena at Filomanie and was so upset to hear someone else was interested. The next day however, much to my surprise, Ena got in touch to say her original buyer had backed out and I could have her if I was still interested! Interested I was! I paid for her that evening and she was posted out the following day.

I tracked her religiously from the moment I got the tracking number, so excited!

20131112-075847.jpg

At 7am, I was lurking outside my local post office waiting for it to open. Don’t you think it’s time England had an EVENING SERVICE? huh?! I could have picked her up last night and fawned over her a lot longer!

Anyhow…

And here we go…

Ta-Da! Daisy the Deco!

I got the inspiration from the Great Gatsby, if you can’t guess already ;).

She came with lots and lots of inserts, flyleaf, 2013 diary, addresses, to do, expenses, notepaper, dividers, today marker, business card holders, world map etc… But I wanted to move in (and didn’t have much time to do it before work so here are the quick photos 🙂 )

And there we have it! Daisy is here and I’m so ecstatic!

What are your thoughts on the deco? Are there any other deco owners out there still? Or are they now extinct?!

Off to do my full working day now!

Catch you later

Filofax Keeping Me Grounded – Project Kel Is GO!

Hi Everyone!

The last few weeks I’ve been on a bit of a downer, and this little depressive dip was just enough to actually keep me in pyjama’s and bedridden almost for the last week. I’ve done nothing. No cleaning (shocker!) no organising (shocker!) no smiling. I wanted the would to fade away and let me curl up in a ball. I ate takeaway after takeaway, ordered in my shopping consisting of fizzy drinks, alcohol, biscuits, crisps, chocolate… you name it, everything I shouldn’t do is on there.

As a result, you can imagine I feel even worse!

Anyway, this realisation came to me on Saturday night while talking with my Australian Skypefriend Zoe about Luke leaving for Australia (which is happening today, sigh) and she crazily suggested I ought to visit her sometime soon. I’ll admit, I’m tempted!

While I was thinking about being tempted, I thought to myself; If I was going to visit Zoe I’d need a beach perfect bod!

Looking down at my junk food ridden body that I was letting go of slightly, I thought “it’s time to whup myself into shape again and develop some good habits ready to show Luke what he’s been missing!”

Course, it’s not all for Luke, I mean, I’m using that as some sort of purpose, you know? I have Christmas around the corner and I need to get into that perfect little black dress again, and then in the summer I have my parents 25th wedding anniversary party to attend where I am to wear an extremely tight Alice’s Boutique dress, so it’s important that I look my best!

I looked into getting back to Bellydancing, but it’s not widely recognised over here. I looked into going back to my old gym, but it’s all about spinning and weights there. I knew I wanted to do something feminine, rhythmic, dance-orientated, flowing etc.

Then I looked at the fitness regime of a slender inspiration of mine, don’t judge me on this – Cheryl Cole. I remember reading an article regarding her dramatic weight loss once, stating she was over 9 stone (which I personally consider to be a healthy weight!) in the early days of Girls Aloud. She didn’t feel happy wherefore she switched to a portion of Chicken and Rice for one of her meals every day. The girls had a professional trainer come in to sort them out etc… and now according to this article: http://www.closeronline.co.uk/2013/08/cheryl-cole-reveals-her-exercise-and-diet-tips she uses the Tracy Anderson Method DVD’s when she is not training on her own dance moves or attending Tracy Anderson Classes.

So last night I downloaded and had a go at the Dance Cardio DVD. It’s going to take me some time to get the Combinations down (I’m still learning Combination 1!) but that’s almost a workout in itself!

I woke up this morning and I ached. I’m still aching now. But I feel as though I’m starting something new, you know? Today marks the first day of Project Kel. Where I will be working on myself (not just working out) to make myself better in mind, body and soul.

And how will I be using my Filofax to do this? Well – to schedule in the ME TIME 🙂 whether it’s time for me to work out or organise appointments to have my teeth whitened or to meditate. It will be used to motivate me when I’m slipping, ready for me to pencil in a new appointment after remembering my goals and the reasons I’m doing this.

Today, I’ve booked my Teeth Whitening Session for Saturday. Which is perfect as I am beginning my new job on the Monday.

And now I feel motivated, what else can I book…!!

How are you using your Filofax to motivate you?

The Bombshell Filofax

Happy Monday everyone!

Recently I have been revisiting and devouring one of my favourite books, “The Bombshell Manual of Style” by Laren Stover. When I first read this in 2010 I was hooked.

For some time I have been a fan of the classic bombshell films, with Bridget Bardot, Jayne Mansfield, Kim Novak and of course, Marilyn Monroe as the stars. So when I re-read the Manual (AKA, The Bible 😉 ) I knew that Reuben Toledo’s amazing bombshellesque illustrations had to be involved somehow in my filofax.

So I added some illustrations to some filofax notepaper, and here is an example of how they have come out:

20131021-233836.jpg

I’m quite pleased! So I’ve added them to the Free Inserts Page if you’re interested in unleashing your inner bombshell 🙂

While I was fiddling around with my printing, I also had a go at positioning one of the illustrations in the original filofax week on 2 pages “this week” section. Here’s how that turned out!

20131021-234158.jpg

Pretty neat, huh?

This is also available for anyone that is interested, in the Free Inserts page (the link is at the top of the page!)

Hope you enjoy, I’ll add some more illustrations soon 🙂

Stay creative!

Filofax Finsbury Personal in Pink

Hi everyone!

I promised a post on the Finsbury, didn’t I?

Well, I’m sorry it’s so late, however it arrived when I was at work and my neighbour signed for it… Then he left for work until 11pm! So I waited and waited and waited… Watched some Finsbury videos on YouTube, finished off laminating my new dividers and waited some more.

Then finally he came home and I bounced out of my door pretty much the moment he stepped out of his car and waited for him to open up his home to give me my parcel.

When I got inside, I shot into my bedroom (the warmest room!) got into my PJ’s (because I would be messing around with the Finsbury for a while… Needed to be comfortable etc!) and then proceeded to unbox while taking photographs. I’m not the most patient person in the world so apologies for the rushed camera job (from my iPhone).

My parcel: squeal!

20131017-001504.jpg

The box is a slide in-out type rather than a lidded box:

20131017-001600.jpg

And here it is! Though, artificial light really doesn’t do much for the colour on the camera haha!

20131017-001733.jpg

20131017-001906.jpg

This Filofax comes with the standard Multilingual diary (2014), blank tabs, a-z tabs, Internet site inserts, to do inserts, address inserts, a business card holder insert (holds 6 cards), flyleaf, black ruler/page marker, various colour notepapers… Ummm I think that’s it. Most of these inserts I’ll watermark and give to dad as a Christmas gift.

20131017-002017.jpg

The Finsbury did not lay flat out of the box, but as I have already worked with slimline versions of the Finsbury, I kind of expected it. I removed all of the inserts, grabbed some Valentina moisturiser and slathered it all over the leather, really working and kneading. I felt it beginning to soften up already (nowhere near the Malden however: the Finsbury is a rigid binder!

Once it was all moisturised and smelling divine, I quickly moved in using my new dividers:

20131017-002534.jpg

20131017-003134.jpg

I still can’t get over the odd colour this camera is showing haha!

20131017-003641.jpg

20131017-003712.jpg

20131017-003743.jpg

And here is the view from the closed planner:

20131017-003813.jpg

Here are the tab names. If there is one bit of consistency with my filofax is my set up :). So it really is my saviour and my soother in my otherwise indecisive mind. Least I’ve stuck to “something!”

20131017-004115.jpg

And there we have it! It’s currently lying on my bedside table and it doesn’t look out of place on there or my coffee table… Or my bathroom or kitchen haha! My home is “shabby chic” and has lots of ivories, creams, pinks and purples so the Finchley goes down a treat!

Ill attempt to get a better photograph of the colour shortly: during the daylight haha!

Stay creative!

Filofax Changes in the Kel Kamp

Hi Everyone!

It is now officially Autumn in my eyes. I’m wearing fleecy PJ’s, wrapping myself in blankets and curling up under duvets when I get home from work at night. I’m waking for work before the Sun even thinks about making an appearance and I’m getting home just when it’s beginning to get dark. The world is a whole lot of grey right now.

There are a few things that are happening in my life that are transitional right now for me – as my colleague has notified me at work – I am in limbo.

Firstly, I have a new job which I am due to begin on 11th November. I’m currently serving my notice at my current workplace – so I’m in limbo there. I’m nervous about beginning something new (but also excited), and I’m really sad to leave my current colleagues as they just ‘get me’… they have a lot of knowledge, advice and experience (in life and work). I know I’ll miss their opinions and very well structured advice.

The other thing is the person I’ve been seeing the last few months is moving to Australia for a year. It makes me very sad that he is leaving and as we have not known eachother long it seems that we will be going our own separate ways when he leaves on 4th November. Again, this makes my heart heavy with sadness. But we are enjoying things while we can, we will remain in touch while he travels and see where we are and how we feel when he comes back. Again – another limbo situation – he’s not gone yet, but I know he’s going, I know we will be separated etc…

A more trivial matter is that I’ll soon me changing my car from my black, boxy Hyundai i10. What to, I’m not sure. Idea’s please! Because I can’t make up my mind and make a decision (c’mon, you’ve seen how I am with Filofaxes, inserts, dividers etc…! The CHOICES…!!!), it makes me miserable therefore I feel in limbo until I have reached a decision or settled on a ‘goal’. Ultimately I’d love an old style silver Audi TT. Reality is I need something pretty newish, cheap to tax, insure and run… and something no larger than a medium hatchback. But I want something iconic, something with a bit of glamour to it. Maybe even a convertible. Ah, I don’t know.

Another thing in limbo is my own transition. This one is the hardest to explain. Lately I don’t feel very ‘me’. You could say it’s the other factors in my life that are affecting me. You could say it’s the weather, my age, call it what you want. I don’t quite know where I am at, or what I want, or why I’m feeling this way, or how to stop feeling this way. Something just feels ‘off’, or ‘missing’. So I’m currently in limbo waiting for that lightbulb moment where I get that clarity spark and everything begins moving again.

Until then, I had my lowest moment yesterday daytime so during my lunch hour I faltered and gave in to a deal on a Pink Personal Finsbury. After I panicked, had a bit of buyers remorse and felt guilt like no other, I realised that my Halloween set of dividers won’t be co-ordinating with the fun pink Finsbury, so last night I darted over to my local craft shop to buy a new set of scrapbook papers.

Naturally when I was faced with a lot of crafty bits and bobs I got carried away and purchased a few bits and bobs ready for my new addition. It’s all girly and vintage looking 😉 if you’re in the UK, you can purchase all of these from The Range.

The colours and patterns I chose were similar to the pastel throughout Legally Blonde 2 – pretty much how I would imagine Elle Wood’s pink Classic Filofax to look inside. Although, I am yet to find an “I brake for Sample Sales!” bookmark 😉

20131016-144308.jpg

I’ve just been notified by Amazon that my Finsbury has arrived at my home (well, signed by my neighbour as I’m still here at work).  Staring at the clock and willing 5.30 to arrive.  Come on 90 minutes, do your magic!  So exciting!  I will have to do an unboxing post later on tonight now…!

Squeal!

Stay Creative

Brand New Customised Dividers!

Hi!

Welcome to part two of tonight’s two part show…!  Ahem.

I’m really anxious and excited to show you the results of 3 nights work slaving away on my living room floor surrounded by pink pages, ideas, sticky sparkly gems and girly embellishments…!  On a personal level, I feel exhausted from trying to get out this burst of basic “creativity” that surged forward recently.  Trust me, it is a godsend, but it’s also tiring!

As you know, I got bored with the setup of my Malden and found it to be too erm… well… not girly enough for my renewed love of pink thanks to watching my Heroine of the Modern Day:  Ms Woods.

I got bored with my very basic “picture on a pre-made tab” and be done with it – I wanted something that looked interesting, creative almost, pretty and visually exciting.  Oh, and the final reason (and should be most important but I forgot until now… oops), there were far too many tabs, too much information that didn’t need to be in there and generally… it was looking too stuffed full of things I didn’t really need.

As you know from my previous posts, I removed my business cards completely…  but I also removed the “information” tab, “notes” tab, “inspiration” tab and the “A-Z” tabs.  I have a heck of a lot of space left over!  My Malden is now a Skinny Minx and itching for more information…

Anyway… without further ado… here are the new tabs:

Image 12Image 17Image 10Image 8Image 14Image 11Image 13Image 9

And here is the new “today” bookmark:

Image 20Image 16

Now, now that the initial photographs are up… I must show you what a grand job my laminator did of mucking up 2 of my hard worked on creations….  I admit, it’s all my fault though… I shouldn’t have gone so mad with the gems…!

The below photograph was of the front page to the diary showing the Organiser Number.  On it featured an old fashioned showbiz mirror, and all the lights were made of clear gems.  The laminator decided it would be ace to drag them away from their positions and um… halfway down the page at random.  It also ate into the lace dollie and pulled it into one heck of a weird shape 😦

Image 7

The only other problem I had was when I put 3 tabs in together to be laminated on an A4 laminating page… one of the larger gems got dragged off the original divider altogether, and ended up distorting this one 😦

Image 15

Apart from those 2 issues (which will be corrected when I get my steam back…!) I’m loving, loving, loving my new ‘look’!  Here is how it looks in the filo :).  The floating tabs seem to have come out really well and are visible at-a-glance, which I’m really pleased about.

With all of that done, I think I can now rest peacefully until the next “surge” 😉

Have you ramped your filo lately?

How I Make My Dividers

Hi everyone!

Today I did a bit of shopping in the craft corner of a local garden centre to give me more girly-pink ideas for my upcoming new dividers and system.  I ended up travelling to hobbycraft as well…!

Image

Just a bit of pink to add to my growing collection…!  The beachy styles at the top are for my scrapbook I fully intend on making when I get home from Tenerife in a few weeks time.

Anyway, I wanted to share how I make my dividers.  I have 2 posts coming out today, the second one will show all of my dividers completed and in use as of about 1 hour ago ;).

First of all, I mentioned a post or so ago that the vision behind the change is focusing on the “lady” that I have drawings of.  She will feature on all of my attempted designs ;).  So anyway, with that in mind, I think of how best I can showcase the drawing.

The one I’m going to show you was very quickly made and not a lot of detail went into this one as opposed to some of them, but hey ho… here we go!

First of all, I chose the appropriate style background paper (like card stock, but paper instead) and cut to size.  For me and what I need it for, it doesn’t need to be completely straight, it doesn’t need to be a certain size, just however I feel works for me:

Image

I cut and stick into place (usually slightly on an angle, I don’t require things to be perfectly straight!).  Then I line up my drawing where I want, cut and stick again:

Image

I created a frame made of of scrap paper and added little embellishment to finish off.

Then I sprinkled on a little “interest” – a cutout saying “summer days” and an adhesive dollie boarder down the one side to give texture.  I added a bit of sparkle and another little flower embellishment near the bottom of the “eiffel tower”.

Image

And that’s my method…!  Once I complete all of the dividers, I then run them all though the laminator and cut to size, hole punch and away I go!  It just takes so much time!

Now I’m going to work on my next post which should be completed this evening also…  I’m WIRED!  So excited to show off and use my new dividers… I know I’m pathetic but I have worked 3 days on these and I’m rather proud of them haha!

Yes, I got bored with my Malden look…!

I’m not sure whether it is the summer influence, the new decor of my flat or the fact I’ve just watched a hell of a lot of pink (Legally Blonde)… but the girly glamorous side to me is dying to be unleashed!

Today I looked upon my beloved Malden and decided it was:

1) too bulky

and

2) not feminine enough for my liking

I got to thinking – “how can I express my femininity using my Filofax? How can I lighten this up? What would Elle Woods do?” Haha!

First of all, I took stock of what I REALLY needed in there. I mean REALLY needed. Like… how bulky is the business card section? I know I need my cards and all, and I do access them quite often, but surely, couldn’t I transfer the detail into my address section instead? Or have a separate organiser just for my cards? The card section is so large, that it means I can only have a month of my day-per-page diary in at a time… and trying to open and close rings is a nightmare as it’s so stuffed!

20130617-011547.jpg 20130617-011601.jpg 20130617-011612.jpg 20130617-011628.jpg

Out came my trusty creative bits and pieces, and armed with my mug of coffee (yeah, that’s a Savage Garden mug you see there in the picture…), I began turning the rather basic creative cogs in my mind. Let’s be honest here, I only started getting to grips with the whole creativity thing the end of last year, I’m by far the least creative soul on the planet…!

20130617-011658.jpg

I looked at the kind of ideas I’d put together for my bestie for her pocket Filo (before she quickly upgraded to a personal) and I loved the “scrapbook” type theme I had going… so I thought I might get a few bits of inspiration from that…

20130617-011710.jpg

By the way, the photo on the diary is a polaroid printout of my bestie – isn’t she a beaut!

Taking the idea of the pretty font due to be used on my mates tabs as you saw on the above photographs, I decided I’d like some Elle Woods inspiration and go for a pink tab and a dark violet font colour. I went one further and scanned, printed and cut out an inspirational “lady” to be the theme of my Tabs. You’ll see her in various designs (once I’ve managed to stretch the hours out longer, there just isn’t enough time to do everything I want to do. Does anyone else think that once they start messing around, time shoots by and all of a sudden 8 hours have passed by and you’ve succeeded in one thing only?) anyway, here’s the photograph of the tab design and my theme lady:

20130617-011736.jpg

Before I started work on my tabs, I realised I wanted pink tabs…! More pink! Pink is the new black, pink is the word etc etc… I’m going pinksane! The way I wanted to do it was to use pink coloured Filofax paper, however… this little lady thought it would be a great idea to auction off all of her coloured paper months ago as she thought she would never have any use for it, and liked all of the pages to be white… proves it’s certainly a lady’s perogative to change her mind…! Tomorrow I SHALL get some.

But anyway – I really wanted to do SOMETHING! I was wired and inspired! I decided printing out bits and bobs ready for when I could do more would help. It didn’t. I ended up part making a bookmark (which needs to be laminated and then hole punched but I want to wait for a couple of bits and bobs that require laminating in order to complete it):

20130617-011758.jpg

And then, after 8 hours of internet searching for appropriate possible background ideas, this is my result so far… and yep, that’s the back of the bookmark I made today too that you can see near the “Dior” printout.

20130617-011809.jpg

Feels like I have a very long way to go to get to where I want to get to… but I’m sure it will be worth it in the end… After all, re-vamping has always been my favourite part!

Have you changed your Filofax tabs lately? What inspired you, and why?

Much love

Kel
