Pocket Filofax Malden in Kingfisher Blue

Hi Everyone!

WARNING – PICTURE HEAVY POST! 😉

After an agonising 5 day wait, today I finally received my Pocket Malden in Kingfisher Blue. Oh my. It’s a beauty.

All over the bank holiday weekend I worked on inserts for it and, inspired by the colour, I decided to stay vibrant and go for a mermaid type of theme. You know my Filofaxes always seem to have themes!

I’ve used a lot of papers from “Hunkydory’s Twilight Under The Sea” collection and also the “First Edition Beyond The Shore” to create these dividers, markers note papers etc.

It’s by no means finished yet, but I just couldn’t wait for you to see it!And so, without further ado, please meet my latest addition 🙂

When I took it out of the box, I did my new favourite thing to do with the lived in Malden range – I massaged it with Coconut Oil so that it became buttery and soft and aged.

In the pockets I have an In Case of Emergency card that I created on Excel and stuck onto one of the scrapbook cards. In the pocket behind is a sticky notes section full of little tiny sticky notes – from Dovecraft. The Dashboard is an absolutely beautiful piece of art I just had to print out from Pinterest. It’s perhaps my favourite mermaid illustration ever. It’s so vibrant and mystical!

Behind the dashboard, another Pinterest find which is again, sublime! Then I have a credit card pocket with a die cut or topper from the Twilight Under the Sea range.

My tabs were all created using the “We R Memory Keepers” Bracket Tab and the labels were simply created in Excel, cut out very roughly and stuck onto the tabs with packing tape. I’ve used no laminate in this filofax.

The Today Bookmark was made with the “Twilight Inder The Sea” Cardstock and again, the labels were created on Excel, cut out very roughly and stuck onto the card.

Lastly I created this credit card holder with side pocket which I’m still not sure about… I don’t know if I’ll be keeping it in here just yet!

And that’s it! Like I say, I’m still setting things up and things are likely to move around as I find what works for me – it’s been a VERY long time since I was in a Pocket Filofax!

Pocket users – how do you utilise yours!? Any ideas will be great fully received 🙂

Until next time – carry on planning!

Filofax Personal Malden Ochre

These Malden’s are the same age. I know, crazy isn’t it! They were both taken out of the box the weekend and yet the one to the right looks really worn in and the patina looks supple and shiny through years of use.

I have to admit, I’m kind of in love with the one on the right, a lot!

I’m going to tell you the tale of the 2 Personal Malden’s in Ochre:

Firstly, I’ve been away from my Filofaxes for a good 18 months or so. I’ve felt that I didn’t really need to be planning at work so much and I promised I could keep it all in my head… and what ended up happening was a lot of agreeing to go somewhere or do something only to be contacted weeks or months later asking where I was as I’d organised something and forgotten about it!

I figured I needed something. So I tried my Travelers Notebook and then a Moleskine, and then a “normal” diary from Laura Ashley. All with very little success.

So I decided before the weekend I would go back to my trusty old Filofax, or rather, a new, trusty Filofax hehe. I had seen on one of the Filofax Facebook groups that a few people had gotten their Kingfisher Blue Malden’s and I kind of really wanted one: a lot (spoiler, I ordered one…!). But I also spotted the Ochres on sale on Amazon, and I had always been one foot in the Ochre camp; whenever I went into WHSmiths to feel then though, they felt quite… plasticky and not as soft as I thought they’d be. But in my moment of weakness, it didn’t stop me as I ordered from Amazon and received the very next day.

When it arrived, I was so excited I opened it up but to discover that there were 2017 diary inserts (which was fine, but I thought I would let Amazon know just in case they had any issues with any other customers etc) and they told me I needed to return the Filofax and get a replacement. I told them I didn’t want to return it, and I just wanted to get the correct inserts instead. After too-ing and fro-ing I eventually agreed to return and they would send a replacement the next day.

The next day, the replacement arrived and again, it was the 2017 inserts, so now I had 2 Ochre Malden’s, but both with 2017 inserts. I got onto Amazon to let them know that I had still received 2017 inserts, and they credited me £5 to my account so I could purchase 2019 inserts.

The collection of the original was supposed to happen today however they never turned up, and I ended up on the phone to Amazon and even offered to deliver it to their branch, which is opposite my workplace.

Amazon turned around and told me that they didn’t want the Filofax back, and I could dispose of it or do what I like with it. So effectively, I have 2 Ochre Malden’s that I’ve only paid for 1 and it was in a sale as it was!

Anyway…! The one on the right was the replacement and when I took it out of the box it felt a little plasticky, so I decided I would try my normal method of moisturising it, but with coconut oil instead of normal moisturiser. After rubbing the oil onto the surface of the empty binder, I noticed it getting darker in places and I initially panicked, wondering if it was taking the colour off the leather. But it suddenly felt so soft, buttery and luxurious, I had to keep on going! The colour you see above is after 2 attempts of coconut oil, and I think it looks beautifully aged and rustic and very loved.

Even the grain looks better and more moisturised.

I have to say, it’s even much more pliable than the untouched one!

What do you prefer? A brand spanking new Malden that looks absolutely pristine, or so you prefer one that looks a little more weathered and aged?

Until next time keep planning!

New Printables!

Hi everyone!

As I’m sick with the lady flu, today I’ve finally been confined to my living room sofa with the blanket and an endless supply of tissues & lemsips.

So I got into YouTube and watching loads of filofax videos, in preparation for the new Guinea that should be arriving in the next few days (I’m far too excited!). After about what felt like 6 hours of inspiration, I finally had a go at some of my own printables while singing (very badly, might I add) to The Courteeners and Echosmith on the old iTunes playlists… heaven knows my own inserts needed a revamp in my filo!

I’ve posted them up in my “free inserts” page at the top of the screen… And here they are in action (albeit on pink note paper… I’ve ran out of cotton cream!)

They’re now up on my “free inserts” page, please feel free to utilise them in your own planner if you like the look of them… And let me know how you get on with them! 🙂

Planner peace out

Reviving My Love For Filofax And Planning

Good Evening To You!

I feel so guilty whenever I look at my WordPress app icon on my iPhone. And I mentally note “must get back into my Filofax and blogging again.” But if truth be told, there’s not a whole lot of change. Generally, if I don’t have anything to talk about (any changes usually), I fear I have nothing to speak about whatsoever! My life for the last few months has been mundane – work, home, sleep, work, home, sleep etc.

Last night, in a desperate attempt to revive my creative spirit a little and use my planner more, I did a clear out of my hat boxes of crafty bits and bobs I never use, or ripped bits of card stock I promised myself I’d one day have use for. It also gave me chance to take stock of what I actually HAVE! I didn’t realise I had so much stuff!

Looking then in my cupboard reserved solely for filofaxes and additional paper, old diary inserts, my own creations etc, I pulled out my Compact Luxe and decided it was time to have a go, see if I could use it. Most of my week on 2 pages have been pulled out, and I’ve whittled the sections down to 4 as opposed to my old set up of 6 tabs.

Nothing has been vamped up yet as most of my time was spent faffing around sorting my craft stuff, however I managed to find a cheeky piano keys drawing online I just HAD to turn into a today marker… For marking my month to view I stumbled upon a RAK I received from my penpal from the US, April’s lovely gift of a Starbucks coffee shaped loyalty card I adore! She also provided me with a little washi tape on there I haven’t had the heart to remove yet either… April if you see this; Thank you SO MUCH for your letter and all of the gifts, I promise I will write back to you – I am cooking a couple of bits and bobs up for you as we speak… 🙂

But in the meantime, take a gander at the photo’s below… any idea’s how I can rev up my dividers? I’m clean out of ideas ;/

Much love

Kel

Filofax Changes – Selling A Couple Of My Filo’s!

Hi Everyone!

I’ve sold my Malden!  There, it’s out there.  My lovely Grey is departing for the fairer shores of the USA tomorrow morning to his new home.

I’m on this whole self improvement thing and for me, it’s all about cleansing my surroundings.  I’ve sold lots of things, thrown out lots of things, and now it’s time to whittle down my Filofax Collection.  So, in addition to my Malden’s departure, I am also selling the linked Filofaxes:

My Slimline Finsbury in Black – never used perfect rings, 2013 week on one page diary and telephone contact tabs.  Comes in slide in box.  Perfect for whipping out in business meetings!

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/161144249188

My Personal Breast Cancer Awareness Hot Pink Filofax – only used to carry contact business cards around with me whilst I was in my reps role.  No inserts or box.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/161144253189

And there we have it!  Feel free to take a look at the listing and place a bid 🙂

Another thing regarding Filofax, I am currently on the hunt for the PERFECT 2014 diary inserts for me.  I’m currently having some printables designed for me by Sharn of the fantastic FilofaxPrintables shop on Etsy.  Her designs are so gorgeous, I just HAD to contact her and ask her to use her “Perrrfect World” design and customise it to suit my needs.  I’m so excited to see it – and when I do, I’ll have to show it off to you 🙂

In the meantime, here is the link to Sharn’s Etsy Shop for you to drool over her beautiful designs.  Don’t forget, she is available to customise the designs to your requirements!

In other news, I had my first ever microdermabrasion session today and I love the results already!  I fully recommend pampering and treating yourself, especially when you feel low or in limbo etc.  Get yourself a sense of purpose, a catalyst, a muse, a direction, a REASON… and go for it.  Indulge, splurge, live a little, enjoy life, have a goal and work towards it using small tasks of loveliness to urge you on and make you feel amazing.

Because as L’Oreal so decadently put it – You’re Worth It.

Much Love – stay creative!

Filofax Week on 2 Pages Inserts

Hi everyone

Last night I tweaked my Month on 2 Pages and made it available on my Free Inserts page (see above). The more I looked at it, the more I wanted to have a go at a Week on 2 Pages also.

You may have seen the way I like to organise my diary (fill in monthly pages and then move the detail across to the inner section of my weekly pages, with the outer half free to put in to do lists). It’s just something that works for me, but if you feel like trying something like it, the Week on 2 Pages are now available on my Free Inserts page also. Please see below for photo’s:

That is the blank page as it comes off the printer.

Here is how it can look when decorated:

Course, my decorating is a little boring etc, but I’m just trying to get the point across that the pages can be jazzed up to your own taste etc.

Anyhow, they’re there for the taking if you feel the need to have a go 🙂

Let me know how you get on!

Filofax Month On 2 Pages

Hi everyone!

It’s my birthday today! Although, technically not until I wake up ;). I’ve spent my last evening as a 27 year old working on a set of MO2P (Month On 2 Pages) using Microsoft Word.

I currently use Ray & Steve’s (My Life All In One Place & Philofaxy web pages: I’m doing this on my mobile and it’s playing up so I’ll have to link later) printable inserts, but me being me, forever churning with ideas and “I wish I could have a go at that” mentality… Well, it just had to be attempted.

Originally for 2014 I was going to print off another set of Ray & Steve’s inserts, and I even did this… But I kept having issues with the document (February just wasn’t printing for me). I even looked into the Filofax’s own but could only seem to find this in the stores in white, no cotton cream. So I began my search online for a template.

As the search began, I wanted to find a full set of Monthly inserts detailing the months and dates etc. but there were some really cute dateless and month-less inserts around, I kind of got converted!

The ones I did see however, were already decorated. I like to decorate my own pages (gives me sense of achievement therefore I am more likely to look at it and utilise it, it’s just the way I am). So a little voice in my head began to get louder “why don’t you have a go, just use the templates for inspiration etc”.

So I had a go. It’s not great and even a little plain, but it’s my first attempt. The hearts to put your dates in need to be a little more transparent so you can see the dates… But for me, it is laid out exactly as I need it so that I can washi tape it up and decorate it to my taste etc.

Here is the blank MO2P:

And here is is dated and decorated, and in my Filofax:

Here is another one, February 2014:

If anyone is interested in this insert I can make it available to download 🙂 maybe I can change the shapes to suit more: a car shape, a star shape, an apple shape, a house shape, anything!

Let me know and ill sort something out 🙂
