Filofax Personal Kendal For Sale

Hi All!

Yep, my Kendal is for sale on e-bay…  you can check it out on:

It will be a shame to part with it as it’s followed me around on my travels but since I purchased my Malden it was resigned to sit around in my cupboard holding used old diary inserts.

It’s only right that it is used and cherished once again so it’s up for sale on e-bay.  I hope it goes to someone nice that can love it as much as I used to!

I May Have Done Something Stupid… (But I’m Incredibly Excited!) & Selling My Personal Kendal!

Today I was having one of “those” days.  You know the types – you’re shattered from the week, waiting for Friday to be over and done with so you can just get home and relax, but work just seems to pile and pile, and you’re not in the mood whatsoever!  Well, I had a huge case of the “please be 5.30pm already” bug today.  On top of that, I had a bit of a spat with a really dear friend of mine which made me feel quite ill (I still don’t feel quite myself after it even now to be honest), I have been having car problems, my tooth has broke, I overslept, I keep breaking glasses and generally being clumsy… and my possible big news has been delayed – yet AGAIN!  It’s naturally not my week right now.

So today I browsed E-Bay and my eyes landed on a Personal Orange Osterley for sale in Germany.  The advert said it would not ship to the UK however I’ve read in some cases the sellers do make exceptions – I thought “I might as well ask – don’t ask, don’t get!”.  I was one of the lucky ones – the Seller, Stefanie, was so lovely and agreed to sell to myself despite me being in the UK.  I don’t think I’ve ever been so nervous and excited processing a payment before!

Stefanie, if you do come back to visit my blog, I’d just like to say your English was so much better than my very poor German, and you were fantastic to deal with – thank you so much for posting out to the UK, I appreciate it very much 🙂 .  I can’t wait to see how I can use the Osterley!

I am now sitting here wondering how on earth I’ve managed to allow myself to part with such money – however I’ve had my eye on an Orange Osterley since last year and I’ve never really been able to stop thinking about it.

So, to justify my splurge, I’ve decided (amongst many other things) to sell my Filofax Kendal!  You may recall it was my first venture out into the world of Personal Filofaxes after a short stint with my Lilac Pocket Metropol.  My Kendal has travelled the UK with me keeping me in check as a Rep however since I purchased my Grey Malden it’s been housebound – box bound – with old diary inserts and report notes to keep it company.  I just know that it ought to be back out there, travelling, living life and getting lived in and cherished and looked after.

So if you’re on the lookout for a Personal Kendal, let me know 🙂

On the subject of Filofax selling, I’m considering selling the Slimline Finsbury (same as the one I purchased for my dad without all the modifications haha).  I originally thought it would be great as a meeting planner and for me writing meeting notes (it has a lovely professional edge and the small rings are easy to write in, me being left handed and all).  But I’m really reluctant to part with it for some odd reason…  I’m not sure :/

Anyhow, the wait is on now for the infamous Osterley – I believe I ought to give him a name – how about something really original like “Ozzie” the Orange Osterley?

Actually, thinking about it, it’s ironic, as I love “Aussie”‘s.

And with that, I think it’s time for me to finish off my RAK and get it posted 🙂

Catch you later

Gearing Up The The Move To The Malden – WARNING – Picture Heavy Post!

Hi Everyone!

Today I decided I really needed to finish off my tabs and my setup ready for me to move into the Malden (when it gets here… I know I only ordered it Monday but I’m so impatient…!).

In my lunch hour I hauled myself to The Range and purchased some card stock and patterned paper. I purchased:

– First Edition “Boho Chic” (like me, lol 😉 ) 8×8 card stock

– First Edition “Desert Blooms” 8×8 card stock

– Dovecraft “Super Value Designer Paper Pad” 100 sheets 25 designs 12×12 paper

Then I worked 6 hours solid on printing, cutting, arranging, colouring, laminating, trimming etc… so now finally, I only have one tab to complete once I’ve thought of some ideas… “REPORTS” – which house all of my notes from when I’ve been in meetings with customers ready to be typed up at the end of the week.

Without further ado, lets go the the first page of my Kendal to find:

The Queen Of Hearts!

AKA Cards, this tab includes my business card holders stuffed with my customers business cards in case I need them. Which I refer to. A LOT!

Secret Diary Of A Call Girl!

AKA Diary, self explanatory – I use WHSmith day per page with appointment times to enable me to book my customer appointments and plan my day effectively. They also have small notes at the bottom so things I need to get done that day are usually added there. At the very front of my diary I have a pull out Filofax year planner – all of my holidays and monthly bills are written in there so I can see at a glance what’s happening. All guarded by the professional herself 😉 Belle!

Airmail Envelope Australia!

AKA Address – web addresses, usernames & coded passwords are here

A-Z finished!

Baker St – Gerry Rafferty

Call Me – Blondie
Electric Avenue – Eddie Grant
Hanging On The Telephone – Blondie
Ill Communication – Beastie Boys
London Calling – The Clash
No Phone – Cake
Penny Lane – The Beatles
Road To Nowhere – Talking Heads

Telephone Thing – The Fall

Union City Blue – Blondie (I love Blondie!)

Where The Streets Have No Name – U2
You Can Talk To Me – The Seahorses

AKA Reports… which I need help with – help…?

Australian 5 Dollar Bill!

AKA Expenses, please see second photograph which is the same bill, but it’s actually a laminated pocket so that I can stuff my fuel and lunch receipts in 🙂

It’s All About Me!

AKA Information – I know, I know, it looks like I’m a little vain… really, I’m not – but I really don’t know what else to put here…. ideas please? This holds my vital info, as well as the generic Filofax conversion tables and holidays etc…

AKA Travel – a bit of a hippy printout I found online and HAD to use it… it holds my map of the British Isles, which has helped me out a little when my Sat Nav decided to die on me and I had to navigate myself from Kent back to Birmingham…!

Musical Notes!

AKA Notes – houses WHSmith ruled paper for jotting down all important things that have no relevance elsewhere.

Swirly Flowers!

AKA Inspiration – anything that inspires me, quotes, poems, a magazine cutout, people… it’s all in here! Could possibly do with a pocket to collect things in here… Hmmm.

70’s Flowers!

AKA Missy. Sigh… how to explain this one – you know the “perfect person” you strive to become? Well, I’ve named that “person” in my head “Missy”. The only way I can describe it is, when I was 3 stone heavier last year, to keep me going on my weight loss plan I had these ideas in my head of the end result, how I would feel, how I would look, how I wanted to be perceived, I knew I was due to be made redundant so a lot of it also focused on the type of role I wanted to be in… I guess it’s like a Goals Section, thinking about it now. All my aspirations will be in here, and the second photo shows the little pocket to collect clippings or ideas along the way.

Oh yeah, do you remember how I said I wanted this guy as my ruler? Daniel Jones

WELL… I’ve been looking around and LOVE LOVE LOVE the idea of “Japan Corner” ‘s see-through dividers… ( So I had a little attempt on my Mac using Seahorse (which is a nightmare to use if you’re a bit dim like me haha!)… it’s not great, and I’ll probably have to do a few more before I’m happy with the result, but yippee – I finally incorporated Daniel Jones (who is waving at me whenever I open my Filo, talk about an incentive to organise haha!) and the Australian Flag into a pull out divider – it’s also got a top tab saying “It’s A Beautiful Day” on it. To make me smile :). It’s not flat which isn’t great, I’ve heard of ironing laminated pieces but I’m a bit nervous about t

And there you have it! Hope you’ve enjoyed the whirlwind tour… just gotta get it into the Malden once it arrives… hurry up Amazon!

Take Care 🙂

A-Z Index Customised For Filofax

G’day everyone!

I finally got around to uploading my photos taken from ‘stupid o’clock’ early hours Sunday morning.

Now, you know how our bland and boring filofaxes are so customisable? Well, because they’re so ‘blank’ and I happen to have a problem committing (to anything!) to a specific style that I like… I decided that this week I’m in love with music. I’m a bit of a boho-indie girl at heart and I love the two extremes – the flowy, feminine, soft, floral, layered aspect of the boho-trend and the quirky eclectic indie trend.

But how do you incorporate this into a filofax when there are SO many different ideas to choose from?

Originally I was going to create my own subject Tabs using a fake “band name” (Straya Ten – Straya because I’m in love with Australia (the country, not the film lol), and everything associated with it, and Ten because it’s my birthdate and birth month). I was going to make up album covers, magazine covers etc based on my favourite photographs of everything and anything. But that seemed like a lot of hard work to be honest… and I’m quite lazy (oops!).

So then I started to think about album covers or singles covers already out there… with songs named something to do with telephones or addresses – after all, that’s essentially what an A-Z address section is used for, right?

I’m still in the process of finishing it off, but I figured I would give you the gist of it so far :). To make the divider photo’s I copied singles covers from google and funked them up a little bit using which is my new best friend, printed them onto blank sheets of filofax paper, cut around the edges a little and then stuck using erm… prit-stick (I hear a thousand groans) and then I secured into place using erm… tape. Lol.

I also got a bit bored of the filofax font on the tabs, so I took a fantastic idea from

– Laura had used alphabet stamps on her tabs which I thought was AMAZING! Unfortunately I wasn’t patient enough to wait until I got some off the internet and I really wanted a black background with white letters, so I ended up spending hours typing, mucking about on spreadsheets, printing and re-printing to the best size for my A-Z tabs, cutting and then messing around with sticky-tape (yes, in the year 2013 we are still resorting to sticky-tape…) trimming the edges ‘just-so’ and then doing it all over again on the back of the tab.

Slow going process indeed.

And here are the results so far!

I finally got around to gluing my cute little union jack button on 🙂

I also managed to affix my back zipper charm

For the cover for the c-d tab I used “Call Me” by Blondie – referencing the telephone and the letter C – get the concept? 😉

e-f is for “Electric Avenue” by Eddy Grant

g-h is for “Hanging on the Telephone” by Blondie

i-j is for “Ill Communication” by the Beastie Boys

Requiring no introduction, k-l showcases the cover of “London Calling” by The Clash

Yet another classic, “Penny Lane” by the Beatles steals o-p

“Telephone Thing” by The Fall dominates the cover of s-t

w-x – “Where The Streets Have No Name” by U2

And finally in the y-z tab it’s “You Can Talk To Me” by The Seahorses

There you have it – As I say, I’m still in progress with the remainder and even though it’s a really simple process, it takes a lot of time and a lot of fiddling around to produce the kind of results I’m looking for… but hey ho, onward striving upward and all that – saying that, next week I’ll probably have a floral boho theme lol…! I change like the wind!

How have you decorated your A-Z tabs?

Until next time

Peace out

Personalising Filofax Kendal

So what’s going on here?

And what’s this all about? Terrible scissor technique – the result of too many wines and an extremely late night maybe?

All will be revealed shortly 😉

I’ve been up all night sorting this out: something I should have done earlier today, but of course, I procrastinated, and the result is a 24 hour ready to crash at any minute now Kel.

I find my very small creative side kicks in about 10pm until around 3am. Things I’m too frightened to do or not sure how to do suddenly become clear and I’m then on a mission.

Unfortunately the nation doesn’t really share my thought on this therefore the things I require to get things done are generally not available to me at this crazy hour.

Like right now, I’m waiting for WHSmith to open so that I can get a couple of things to finally finish my little idea off.

Course, by the time they open ill be deep in sleep and the items I so desperately want for me to be able to complete this idea won’t seem so important during the daylight hours.

All shall be revealed once I manage to get to WHSmith and finish this little change off 🙂

Goodnight all!

Personal Kendal Filofax Customised!

In December I applied and got a new job as a Sales Rep covering the UK for an Italian Fastener Company. As a result, my priorities changed and I needed to become super organised!

I knew my little pocket Metropol would suffer so I decided to upgrade to a personal Kendal. It’s oiled leather that feels quite “suede” like to touch. I’m lost without it!

It wasn’t enough. I longed to put my own customised stamp on it… And then found a blog somewhere (ill post the link once I find it) where someone had used stamps to personalise their tabs. AMAZING! I shot to my local garden centre that has a craft section within a couple of days and then after a theme had been decided (aUnion Jack theme, actually inspired by Filofax catalogue: the Malden “mod” theme and the Jack Vintage theme):

I chose a red, blue and antique stamp ink, as well as traditional postcard/tags from portobello road and idea-ology. I also used decorative tape (old dates and calendars – as well as the Union Jack!).  Please see below for a very small snapshot of the items used.

The result was quite pleasing, travel related, patriotic, sort of an old and bohemian feel to it.

I remember I mentioned I wanted to do something with my ruler… Well, I did, this is the result:

I think I still want a Daniel Jones Inspiration ruler, perhaps I will get a clear ruler, decorate it with an Aussie flag and pop him on it ;). Ill put it in my personal section!

How have you styled yours?
